Computer and Server Moving
Moving a company's computer network can be a complicated task. With our focus solely on commercial moving, we have moved many computer networks. In most cases, the server move is critical and is moved first on a separate air-ride truck with a dedicated crew. Since it is critical for the servers to be up and running quickly at the new location, this method allows maximum time for the IT staff to connect and troubleshoot any server issues.
In addition to moving computer and server components, C Serv offers a full disconnect and reconnect service for desktop PC's. This allows company IT staff to focus on coordinating the server connections and networking vendors while having our trained technicians handle the tracking, connection, and basic trouble shooting of desktop systems.

PC moving
6 step process -
- Inventory components - this confirms what peripherals and cables employees have prior to the move. The document created for this step eliminates any confusion over specialized devices at any desktop and ensures that each employee receives the same components after the move.
- Disconnect all components - our trained technicians properly shut down the machines and gather all cables and peripherals.
- Pack and label components - we supply labels and a clear plastic bag large enough to hold all cables and peripherals. We then pad wrap each component (CPU, Monitor, printer, etc.) individually and pack them together.
- Move safely and determine computer location - Computers are moved after the furniture is in place at the new location. This minimizes the potential for a computer to be moved to an area where it can't be placed immediately. Before components are placed in work areas, C Serv technicians will verify with IT staff where they would like the CPU's to be placed (on desktop vs. under... left, right, or under the monitor). This allows for continuity in the office setup if desired by client.
- C Serv technicians are dispatched as the final computers are being moved. This ensures efficiency in the reconnect process. Once all components are located and inventoried, the cables are connected and organized per the client instructions. This detail is discussed with the IT department prior to the project and includes basic testing requirements and equipment placement, etc.
- Flag problem machines - C Serv technicians are trained to boot up machines and flag anything out of the ordinary. This is an important step in the process of saving valuable IT staff time. They can simply look for any flagged systems rather than check each system individually.
Server Moving
We have worked with many IT departments and we have learned that some things are very near and dear to their hearts. These things include data servers, mail servers, routers and switches among other highly configurable and complicated devices. These are the components that they often prefer to handle themselves. We respect their desire to control this potential hazard when moving a network. For this reason, we offer multiple services to IT departments, but force none. We offer to share our experience in regard to what we have successfully moved along with time requirements and any possible conflicts, etc.
4 step process -
- Unrack servers - we remove servers from cabinets or open rack environments
- Pack and label servers - we pad wrap and label each server with destination location and any other necessary description
- Move servers - we provide a dedicated air ride equipped truck and trained crew to move servers, racks, and other high value network equipment in a safe and timely manner.
- Rerack servers - we will install servers back in your rack(s) as needed
